Posting DetailsPosition Information Job Title Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Voice (2025-2026) Rank Assistant Professor Salary Range 64,000 Tenure Information Tenure Track Job Description The Hartt School, a conservatory of Music, Dance, and Theatre at the University of Hartford, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Voice beginning August 2025. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience teaching tenor, countertenor, baritone, bass-baritone, and/or bass voice types. In addition to teaching applied voice, the position offers opportunities to teach courses within the undergraduate and graduate curricula.Responsibilities
- The primary responsibility of this position is teaching private voice lessons at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Other potential courses to be taught could include any of the following: lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, vocal literature, acting for singers, and special topics seminars in oratorio, song, and/or contemporary techniques.
- Additionally, a candidate may serve as a director for operatic scenes or productions.
- The successful candidate will be actively engaged in student recruitment and retention as well as curriculum development and assessment.
- Full-time duties also include adjudicating auditions and juries, advising students, attending faculty meetings, and serving on departmental, school, and university committees.
- The ideal candidate will be expected to remain active in performance, pedagogical, or other creative/scholarly pursuits, seeking peer reviews, as appropriate-all as expected for the successful pursuit of tenure and promotion.
Required Qualifications Required Qualifications
- A Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the time of appointment.
- An active profile as an established, professional vocalist with experience in opera, oratorio, and/or recital repertoire.
- A documented minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in the area of vocal performance in a college or university classroom, collegiate-level masterclass, and/or professional festival/young artist program setting.
- Demonstrated collaborative, organizational, and communication skills.
- The commitment and ability to recruit new undergraduate and graduate students.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to working with, diverse student populations.

- Ability to contribute to the cultural competence of the campus community.
