The ideal candidate will have significant experience and expertise in the areas of business analytics, information systems, operations management and applied statistics/econometrics. This role requires a commitment to engaged teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and the ability to publish business analytics research in ranked academic journals.Loyola University New Orleans is a selective Jesuit university that has won many awards and recognitions for the high quality of its academic programs. Butt, S.J., College of Business currently enrolls almost 600 undergraduate students in degree programs leading to majors in accounting, analytics, economics, finance, management, marketing, and international business. Approximately 150 students are enrolled in graduate programs. Recently, the College launched a new undergraduate program in Entrepreneurship and graduate programs in Marketing & Communication and Healthcare Management. Our undergraduate (International Business) and graduate (Entrepreneurship) programs are ranked in the top 25 by US News & World Report. The College requires all undergraduate students to complete internships and provides career preparation through its Portfolio Program. Undergraduate programs have been continuously accredited by AACSB since1950, and graduate programs since 1974. The small size (35 faculty and 10 staff) and collegial nature of the College afford a pleasant and productive working environment. Examples of Duties The successful applicant will be expected to teach the following undergraduate and graduate courses, but may also be asked to teach other courses:
  • BUAN-B360 Econometrics I and/or BUAN-B365 Econometrics II
  • BUAN-B375 Contemporary Management Decision Making
  • BUAN-B725 Managerial Economics and Statistics
Additionally, it would be desirable for a candidate to be able to teach some of the following topics in the future, if necessary:
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Machine Learning (incl frameworks such as TensorFlow & PyTorch)
  • Introductory business statistics
  • Principles of microeconomics
  • Principles of macroeconomics
  • Econometrics
  • Data mining
  • Data visualization (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Decision support systems (data extraction, databases, SQL)
  • Predictive analytics, decision modeling
  • Programming for data analytics
  • Statistical quality control (six sigma)
  • Management information systems
  • Operations management, logistics and supply chain analytics
  • Natural language processing (NLP) for sentiment analysis
All tenure-track faculty positions at Loyola University New Orleans require a 3-3 teaching load, continuous scholarly activity, student advising and service to institutional committees.Candidates in their first faculty appointment after completing their PhD are eligible for a one-course reduction in teaching load during the first year to support research activities. Typical Qualifications The ideal candidate will be someone who wants to join a collaborative community of engaged teaching and scholarship, and who has business analytics qualifications in all or some of the following areas:
  • PhD in Business Analytics, Operations Management, Statistics, Econometrics or a closely related field
  • Proficiency in relevant software: SQL, Python, Stata, R, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills, with expertise in: databases: data storage, transformation, extraction and analysis
  • Additional expertise in the following is also desired: Econometric modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, or any other advanced statistical techniques
  • A track record of publishing peer-reviewed research in respected, ranked business journals. If an applicant is a recent doctoral graduate, then he/she/they should show the potential and pipeline to publish research in respected, ranked business journals
  • Familiarity with current trends in business, including the use of artificial intelligence
  • Industry certifications such as the Certified Business Analyst, Certified Analytics Professional, Six Sigma Black Belt, or similar certifications are desirable
  • Strong teaching skills are essential, with a proven record of teaching excellence in the relevant disciplines, both in-person and online, at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Experience working with first-generation students would be valuable, as would an ability to proactively engage in curriculum development for market needs
  • Familiarity with the Jesuit educational paradigm is preferred
