General Responsibilities
General Statement of duties: The Facilities Engineering (FE) Department within the School of Engineering at Massachusetts Maritime Academy invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track Engineering position. This position would support the department's mission to provide high-quality, applied engineering education for students preparing for careers in sectors such as operating engineers at power plants, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, hotels, and campuses.
General Responsibilities:
* Teach at least a 12-credit teaching load per semester in the FE Department. Expected to teach Strengths of Materials and Lab plus other undergraduate level core engineering courses.
* Be responsible for undergraduate laboratory instruction and curricula, including design of the quality, efficacy and learning outcomes of experiments
* Advise, mentor and guide cadets on individual plans of study and progress toward degree
* Opportunity to develop and teach new courses consistent with emerging industry demands and the academic goals of the FE Department
Qualifications and Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Hold a Master of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
* Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license from any U.S. State, and eligibility to obtain a Massachusetts PE license by comity within six months of appointment.

* Ability to mentor and guide student development
* Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through the modeling of inclusive behaviors
* Have legal authorization to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
* Completed Ph.D. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
* Have experience teaching Strengths of Materials, Facilities Planning and Management, and Air and Water Quality courses.
* Show evidence of teaching effectiveness
* Proficiency in 3D modeling software (such as AutoCAD), with the ability to reinvigorate the curriculum for CNC and 3-D printing technology.
* Experience teaching or industry background in Machine Design.
* Experience working as a Facility Engineer within industry.
Tenure-Track appointment as professor at the Assistant or Associate level will be commensurate with prior full-time teaching experience. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves teaching and shares our dedication to excellence in undergraduate education.
Salary
$70,000-$74,000, based on education, qualifications and experience
