Normal Work Schedule: 1 vacancy - 3:30pm - 12:00am, rotating, including weekends and holidays 1 vacancy - 10:30pm - 7:00am, rotating, including weekends and holidaysThe eligible list created from this posting will be used for future Terminal Maintenance Worker vacancies within the next six (6) months. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations including women and racial and ethnic minorities are especially encouraged to apply.DEFINITIONUnder general supervision on assigned shift, perform a range of janitorial cleaning and minor maintenance duties in airport terminal area; perform snow removal and grounds maintenance duties; and perform related work as required.EXAMPLES OF DUTIESEmpty and clean trash receptacles; pick up trash from floors and other areas; clean windows, wipe and clean walls; clean and dust furniture; clean sinks, toilets and urinals using proper sanitizing procedures; clean and polish mirrors, walls and partitions; sweep and mop floors; restock all paper, soap and other expendable supplies; vacuum carpeting using walk-behind, riding and upright vacuums; clean tile flooring using walk-behind and riding scrubbers, mops and buckets; remove, clean and replace carpet tile sections; clean carpets using carpet extractors, spot cleaning equipment and appropriate chemicals; remove snow and perform ice control using light trucks, tractors and other riding and walk-behind equipment; mow and trim grass using riding and walk-behind equipment; trim trees and shrubs; clean parking ramp using powered vacuums, blowers and brooms; wash and perform light maintenance on equipment (trucks and tractors); assist with enforcement of security procedures; set up conference rooms, move furniture; unload freight and other deliveries; change light bulbs and ballasts; assist the public with vehicle parking and perform traffic control; assist as parking attendant in operation of tollhouse; and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Education, Experience & Special Requirements Education, Training and Experience: Requires any combination of training and experience that demonstrates the ability to read, write and interpret measuring and hazard instructions on labels. One (1) year of general janitorial experience, including six (6) months in a large commercial or institutional setting. Experience operating light and medium equipment for snow removal and turf maintenance and performing minor repairs and maintenance required. Licenses:Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Special Requirements: Candidates who reach the final selection stage will be subject to an FBI criminal history records check, TSA security assessment and employment history verification. Must be available for work at any time including nights, holidays and weekends for airport emergencies. Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to stand, move, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and work outside. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. Sufficient manual dexterity to permit employee to use hand and power tools and install parts and equipment. Work may occasionally be performed outside in extreme temperatures and/or in loud and dusty environments or confined spaces. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used to perform janitorial cleaning in a large commercial facility. Ability to operate motorized equipment used in the cleaning and light maintenance of carpeted and solid surface flooring. Ability to operate light trucks, tractors, mowers, and other light motorized equipment. Ability to reorganize daily work depending on staffing and/or activity in area to meet customer needs. Must be safety conscious at all times regarding bacteriological control issues, physical activity (lifting, moving, emptying mop buckets), and the safety of others (spills, wet floor signs, etc.). Knowledge of what type of chemical is used in certain situations and the proper dilutions. Must be able to work around others and with other employees as a team member. Ability to assess risk of exposure to blood/body fluids in specific cleaning situations and take appropriate precautions. Must have functional reasoning skills and the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form. Must have knowledge of knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Mental ability to address potential adverse or negative situations that may arise from time to time. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with members of the public, airport tenants and county employees. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges. Ability to communicate using a two-way radio. Ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, to accept constructive criticism and to be able to project a positive image of the facility to customers. Ability to accept responsibility and work with minimal supervision. Must be dependable, reliable and have a previous history of good attendance and punctuality.
