TERMINAL OPERATIONS MANAGER
This position reports to the Vice President of Operations based at the Terminal.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The terminal operations manager is responsible for the entire operations of Packing plant, Loading Station, Maintenance, Live loading, and Rail operations. This includes the management and coordination of daily activities to always ensure high performance and production. Other duties include ensuring company policies and procedures are followed as well as assisting in the onboarding process of new hires and providing training and educational materials to staff members.
The primary objective of the Terminal Operations Manager is mainly to establish and manage long-term goals that adhere with company goals and standards. The Terminal Operations Manager plays a critical role, working with Logistics, Operations, Marketing and Sales to develop the necessary logistics infrastructure and networks to facilitate the SESCO Cement business strategy. This position is accountable for providing site leadership, team development, and direction to the his/her team in order to achieve quality, safety, productivity goals, and to meet KPI's and contractual obligations.
Essential Functions
- Lead and set direction for team to complete needed preventative and corrective maintenance activities as required by scope of work.
- Improve capability and capacity of maintenance personnel through ongoing mentoring and training.
- Plan and manage resources to ensure the most cost-effective execution by maintenance team.
- Train, manage, and lead employee performance to insure continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to solve problems as needed and set plans for meeting Customer's goals.
- Ensure a safe work environment for employees and certify that safe work practices are being consistently performed.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
- Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
- Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned.
- Ensure customer service issues are addressed promptly and efficiently while providing the highest level of customer service.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Applicable related work experience in the area of cement/lime/dry bulk distribution in conjunction with an associate degree may be considered.
The qualified candidate will be required to have:
- Minimum of ten years' progressive experience in field of operations or logistics
- A strong working knowledge of lime/cement/dry bulk distribution as well as familiarity with bulk material discharge/shipping/distribution functions.
- Experience working with railroads on new business development opportunities.
- High level of interpersonal savvy.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Able to set, coordinate, and accomplish multiple competing priorities.
- Self-directed, able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent analytical, financial acumen, problem solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to work within a matrix organization with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships across
