Position Overview: The Terminal Operator supports the day-to-day operation of the terminal business. The Terminal Operator will be the focal point for external customers loading and discharging vessels. This position is responsible for maintaining safety in the workplace and all regulatory criteria. The Terminal Operator is expected to safely perform all duties related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of petroleum products. It is important to note that new hires are required to successfully complete the Structured and Marine Structured Operator Training program, within a designated time frame from start date. During this extensive training, the candidate must be able to demonstrate at a skilled level the required competencies for the information presented. This role works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work overtime, holidays, nights and weekends. This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated position and is subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations. Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Motiva's Life Saving Rules and ensure they are adhered to by all individuals working in Motiva's facilities.
  • Facilitate the safe movement, receipt, and shipment of product between pipelines, marine, and storage tanks by strictly following policies and procedures and ensuring proper system lineup.
  • Ensure that product transactions are properly measured, accurately documented, and conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that tanks are properly gauged by physically climbing the tanks and reading a gauge tape and plumb bob accurately down to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Perform and document transport truck, dock, tank, and routine terminal inspections.
  • Perform stock balancing and reporting.
  • Issue work permits and oversee contract personnel.
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, security, and environmental activities - intervene within company guideline when necessary.
  • Comply with Motiva Measurement Policy and be able to adhere to and follow assessment guidelines.
  • Perform daily environmental inspections (LDAR).
  • Interact with government agencies.
  • Update and maintain terminal Recurring Activities.
  • Perform other tasks identified and needed for safe, environmentally sound, and reliable operations.
  • Operate pumps, docks, and tanks from control room.
  • Work with Control Center to operate DOT pipelines.
Experience and Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license
  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card at time of hire

  • Experience working in the Terminal, Pipeline or related business field
  • Previous PIC (USCG Person in Charge) Dock Certification
  • Operation and understanding of MVCU (Marine Vapor Combusting Unit)
Physical Requirements:
  • Work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
  • Climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation
  • Must be able to meet callout standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
