Summary of the position:

The Test Cell Quality Engineer is responsible for overall management of the test cells and its functionality to ensure machines are delivered to customers with high quality confidence. This position will collaborate cross functionally from Maintenance of the test cell facilities, testing / software upgrades, production testing, failure analysis.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Establish Robust Test Procedures, (input from engineering and service), the test process needs to be thorough enough to catch issues currently caught in the field.

* Responsibility for test cell facilities in all three HGAP-US buildings (Stationary, Portable, Units, Oil Free).

* Processes for test cell program software.

* Maintenance

* Improve test facilities with goals of test cell operator safety and efficiency.

* Investigate better test equipment, automation where possible, and accommodate additional testing requirements.

* Ensuring efficient and effective calibration of the test cells and its associated equipment.

* Involvement with Global New Product Development (GNPD) projects regarding DVP&R verification and implementation of required testing during production.

* In collaboration with Operations and Training Teams, review the tester job descriptions, consider different levels for entry, basic models, higher tech models, or possibly a tester apprenticeship type of role.

* Assist in the establishment of a training program for testers taking under consideration the different levels, and possibly quarterly training to keep up with new models and technology. This would also include processes to verify issues that have been raised in the field.

* Work with cross functionally to eliminate test/quality internal escapes.

* Measure/track First Pass Yield. All issues identified in test should be posted daily and trend charts established to measure improvement

* Track internal assembly escapes caught in test. All internal escapes caught in test need to be discussed in the next morning toolbox meetings, and tracked where everyone can see. Issues need to be analyzed, trends discussed, and teams formed to mistake proof the issues based on the data collected.

* Assist in the establishing finished product quality criteria. Provide examples of acceptance criteria where needed.

* Integration of processes to meet Hitachi Global Quality Standards.

* Participates in Layered Process Audits (LPAs).

* Assists with the Quality System maintenance.

* Fully understands, interprets, and audits to ISO9001:2008 or equivalent.

Qualifications:

Education and Knowledge

* M.S. or B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing).

* ASQ Certification - CQM, CQA, CQE preferred.

Professional Experience:

* Must have 5 plus years' experience in Quality in a manufacturing setting.

* Must have solid understand of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 management systems.

* SAP knowledge, a plus.

* Customer Relationship Management database experience, a plus.

* Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work as part of a team.

* Ability to think critically, anticipating/recognizing problems and resolving in a timely manner.

* Possess a general working knowledge of automotive or industrial manufacturing quality tools: AIAG, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, 8D, MSA and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards.

* Knowledgeable with hands-on experience in the application of Lean and Six Sigma including the following tools: Value Stream Mapping, Cpk/Ppk, GR&R, Sampling Plans, Kaizen, 5S, Statistical Analysis, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, VOC, QFD, Error Proofing, Robust Design, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, etc.

* Must be proficient in Outlook, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint.

* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
