If you're ready for a challenging and rewarding career, apply now to be at the forefront of naval engineering excellence.Electric Boat Corporation (EB) is seeking a Test Engineer for the Availability Support Group within Planning Yard Fleet Support Engineering, Department 495, to serve in a full-time position supporting commissioned U.S. Navy submarines with the planning and execution of maintenance availabilities. This position is based in Groton, CT.Department 495 is within EB's Life Cycle Support directorate, and is responsible for non-nuclear technical support for commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines for maintenance planning and execution, in areas of drawing and material support, configuration management, and certification. The Availability Support Group fulfills a key role in providing this support to multiple US Navy stakeholders during ship maintenance periods at Naval Shipyards and maintenance facilities.The Test Engineer will help champion effective configuration management and quality assurance of drawings, technical variance documentation (TVD), and liabilities applicable to commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines. This role supports the planning, execution, testing, and certification of ongoing fleet maintenance and CNO availability work. This position may require occasional travel to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (ME), Norfolk Naval Shipyard (VA), EB's Washington Engineering Office (DC) and potentially other locations in the conduct of quality assurance for drawings and liabilities, along with interaction with customers which includes representatives from EB, NAVSEA, Naval Shipyards, and the maintenance community.This role will require a good understanding of drawing, Engineering Report, and revision processes, TVD documentation, and Engineering Configuration Management requirements. The Test Engineer will be required to assist in the resolution of ongoing/emergent issues using independent judgement and vision for new processes and products.QualificationsRequired:High school diploma or equivalent5 plus years of related experience with US Navy submarine design, engineering, construction, overhaul and repair, and/or operational experience onboard US Navy submarinesActive DoD Secret Security Clearance or ability to be granted and maintain a DoD Secret Security ClearancePreferred:Associates Degree or higher in science, engineering, or marine technology related fields7 plus years of relevant experience in US Navy submarine design, engineering, construction, submarine overhaul and repair, and/or operational experience onboard US Navy submarinesSpecific shipboard experience as a RPPO, Work Center Supervisor, 3-M CoordinatorExperience with EB and US Navy drawing and configuration management databasesProficiency interfacing and presenting to NAVSEA or government stakeholdersExperience/interest with artificial intelligence and/or machine learning applicationsProficient with JCALS, MRP II, ELCADD, CITIS, and/or ATIS applicationsKnowledge of VIRGINIA, OHIO, and/or SEAWOLF Class design products and processesUnderstanding of VA Class Construction, Maintenance, and configuration managementUnderstanding of submarine maintenance products (i.e., LARs, DFSs, ShipAlts)Familiarity with AWPs, TGIs, material procurement and certification process and proceduresSkillsMust be highly motivated and be able to interact easily with multiple EB engineering and design departmentsAbility to multi-task and manage technical projectsMust have strong written and verbal communication skillsMust be able to professionally represent EB when interacting with US Navy personnel and industry partners with integrity and commitment to excellenceAbility to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical informationMust be able to function both independently and within a team environment, and be able to facilitate internal and external team meetings with self-sufficiencyProficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)#J-18808-Ljbffr
