Job Title: Test Systems Engineer

Our technology combines active suspension, a spacious cabin and a low cost-per-mile ride allowing for a truly sustainable vehicle.
Indigo Technologies is looking for a talented, hands-on engineer to develop and operate test systems for the active suspension and drive systems. The candidate will work as part of the motor team and will collaborate closely with electrical, software, and mechanical engineering teams in development of the motor, power electronics, and control systems. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of relevant experience with a strong practical and theoretical understanding of electromechanical systems and software. The candidate will work from our office in Woburn, Massachusetts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Test Planning and Execution:
- Work closely with the engineering team to plan and execute motor and inverter tests
- Analyze test results and provide feedback to the engineering team for development
- Document test procedures and results in reports
- Dyno Operation:
- Operate and maintain dynamometer and other test systems to conduct performance and efficiency testing on electric motors
- Ensure accurate and reliable data collection during testing
- Create and maintain accurate records of testing parameters and software configurations
- Test Systems and Data Acquisition Development:
- Own and develop software for test systems and data acquisition in Python
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement hardware and electrical upgrades to test systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data acquisition software and hardware
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software teams, to achieve project goals
- Provide technical support to other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and C
- Proficiency (2+ years experience) in developing data acquisition software and hardware
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and software issues
- Able to use common electromechanical test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.
- Familiarity with sensors including rotary encoders, resolvers, temperature and pressure sensors
- Experience developing graphical tools on PC for analyzing and plotting data from multiple sensors
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of electric motors and their control and commutation (three phase and axial flux preferred)
- Familiarity with testing standards and procedures (automotive or electric motor preferred)
- Familiarity with high voltage power supplies, safety, etc.
- Familiarity with developing software applications using Labjack measurement and automation systems
- Familiarity with Python packages matplotlib and tkinter
- Dynamometer experience either with electric motors or combustion engines
