This position is in the Power & Controls Engineering Laboratory and is an hourly bargaining unit position. The Engineering Laboratory provides experimental testing services for research, development, new product validation and verification, and in-service field problems. The Lab's test facilities are organized into several specialized labs, including Pneumatics, Fuel, Hydro-Mechanical, Electronics/EMI, Vibration, and Metrology Labs. Our development focus is Electric, Environmental, and Engine Systems, Propulsion, and Space Systems.The incumbent will Plan and perform engineering development and qualification tests on various aircraft components and systems. Analyze and evaluate test results to verify that required parameters have been maintained. Practice and comply with environmental, health and safety directions and procedures.2nd Shift: Mon. - Fri. 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM EDTWhat You Will Do:* Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, procedures, specifications and other written and verbal instructions to plan, check, install, test and evaluate results on aircraft components and systems.* Monitor various data acquisition devices such as, flow orifices, pressure, temperature, velocity transducers, flowmeters, load cells, oscillators, voltmeters, overspeed cutoffs.* Set up and operate engines in test cell or outdoor test stand; install engines, make necessary hookups.* Compile test results; inform Engineering of test anomalies.* Evaluate test data to determine that no test equipment malfunctions have affected the quality of the results.* Use basic computer screens such as data acquisition, data analysis, Engineering Labs Inventory, and other inventory screens.* Assemble and disassemble engineering test hardware and test systems.* Operate laboratory utilities and services such as steam, ram air, bleed air, hydraulics, fuel, and vacuum as required to support test in process.* Perform periodic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating fixtures and equipment, adding fluids, changing filters and tightening fasteners.* Document and recommend process improvements in cooperation with fellow employees and supervision.* Obtain required operating supplies.* Instruct one or two fellow employees in the proper performance of duties.* Maintain detailed records.* Keep equipment and surroundings neat and clean.* Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function.Qualifications You Must Have:* Current or previous experience with blueprint reading* Current or previous experience with assembling, disassembling or repair of mechanical components or parts.* U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
