Job Type Full-timeDescriptionReports to: Director EngineeringNumber of direct reports: N/ATravel: 5%Schedule: OnsiteInternal stakeholders: Product Management, Operations, Quality, Sales, Product DesignersExternal stakeholders: Customers (dealers, OEMs), suppliersDometic Marine's manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama specializes in mobile power solutions and manufactures engine ignition replacement parts, DC charging systems, and battery monitoring systems for boats.The Test Technician position reports to the Director of Engineering and focuses on performing product design verification, validation, launch and support of products and components focused on Marine AC / DC charging systems, lithium-ion battery integration, connectivity, and mobile power solutions for inboard and outboard leisure craft. Applies hardware and software solutions to meet testing requirements and functional targets.Main responsibilities:
- Participate in design reviews of test systems and plans
- Conduct design validation tests (environmental, EMC, HASS / HALT, etc.).
- Participate in creating development schedules and then work to these schedules.
- Develop test plans, perform testing and report on project status.
- Work in multi-function new product development teams, including program/product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and production.
- Interact with customers and suppliers and represent Dometic Marine
- 5% travel
RequirementsQualifications and experience:
- University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Electro-Mechanical, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 1+ years of industry or relevant electronic design experience; candidates with 5+ years are preferred
- Consumer electronic product test experience, ideally related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems
- Familiar with PCB testing processes
- Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, or RS232
- Experience with testing EMC related issues during the certification testing of a product
- Familiar with lithium batteries and battery management
- Familiar with power invertors and chargers including AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion
- Knowledge of industry standards such as SAE, ASTM, ISO, and ISO9001
- Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint
