Job Description:
Duties of a TH Staff Assistant II in Timekeeping include the following but are not limited to:
  • The Candidate will be trained to manage all leaves, monitoring accrual balances, applying leave donations, and applying all accruals based on contractual and legal requirements.
  • Provide information to employees and managers regarding accruals and leave status; and work with Human Resources Leaves Unit to ensure employees are utilizing appropriate accruals and leave types.
  • The candidate would be responsible for reviewing and processing timesheets, ensuring employees are properly paid and accruals appropriately used.
  • The candidate would be expected to review employee records for compliance with contractual language, NYS Law and FLSA rule; and should have some payroll knowledge and be able to appropriately calculate overtime, extra time, etc.
  • The candidate should be able to troubleshoot and resolve system issues; and communicate issues to management.
  • Communicate with supervisors and employees regarding leaves and accruals.
  • Assist and train employees and supervisors to navigate the Kronos Timekeeping system.
  • The candidate will be required to create and review Excel spreadsheets and present analysis to management.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, be able to manage a high volume of work and have excellent customer service skills.
  • Collaborate with Labor Relations to ensure that LR settlements and awards are implemented
  • Work with Employee Relations to ensure that medical notes are accurate when employees are on document restriction.
This position will be located in our Ronkonkoma office. Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an office environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Computer literate
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
  • Experience in Timekeeping or Payroll
  • Experience with Kronos Timekeeping System
  • Experience in a union environment

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $43,372 - $57,222 / year. The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired. Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
  • Night shift differential ($000), evening shift differential ($000)
  • Inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential. ($575)
