Position Type: Support Staff/Theatre TechnicianDate Posted: 10/15/2024Location: Centre for Performing and Visual Arts Date Available: 2024-2025Closing Date: Until FilledJOB POSTING: Theatre Technician LOCATION: Nixon Centre $28.02 an hour JOB DESCRIPTION: Manage, supervise, and engage all technical requirements associated with productions presented at the Nixon Centre. Assist the Director of the Nixon Centre and appropriate school staff. Assist in technical procedure and operation of school productions and events. Assist in establishing and maintaining effective communication with the community, encouraging their participation and support. Maintain flexible hours according to production demands of the Nixon Centre. Assist in the maintenance of sound and lighting equipment. Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of performance, construction, and storage spaces of the Nixon Centre. Adhere to and enforce safety practices in performance and construction spaces of the Nixon Centre. Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the Director of the Nixon Centre or other appropriate school staff. REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: Minimum high school diploma and/or appropriate training in Technical Theatre. Advanced Degree in Technical Theatre preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS: Proficient experience in theatrical sound, lighting, video and projection design. Extensive knowledge of theatrical technologies including but not limited to sound boards, light boards, rigging/fly systems, and scenic construction. Knowledge of best safety practices of live events. Ability to read and understand lighting plots, construction plates, and other technical documents. Ability to demonstrate and apply effective interpersonal skills and oral communication. Operate computer (Microsoft and Apple OS) and various types of business machines. Ability to meet and deal with the general public in an effective and tactful manner.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years acceptable technical theatre experience and/or appropriate training.The Coweta County Board of Education reserves the right to accept equivalent qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable.
