The Therapeutic Behavioral Aide is dedicated to delivering direct care services, offering behavioral guidance, and providing training and support to individuals in Health Connect America programs. This position focuses on enhancing the functional, daily, and community living skills of individuals facing developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Through personalized care and targeted interventions, the Therapeutic Behavioral Aide plays a crucial role in fostering independence and improving the quality of life for those they serve.

  • Provides one-on-one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth or support and training with individuals, which includes, but is not limited to:
  • serving as a positive role model for the child/youth
  • providing time-structuring activities
  • providing immediate behavioral reinforcements including appropriate de-escalation techniques
  • assisting with providing appropriate time-out strategies
  • Assisting group leader in daily group activities
  • cognitive behavioral approaches
  • assisting the individuals to engage in, or remain engaged in, appropriate activities
  • helping to minimize the individual's impulsive behavior
  • helping to increase the individual's social and community competencies by building or reinforcing daily living skills that will assist in successfully living in the home and community
  • assisting the individual in developing the ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior
  • helping the individual to internalize a sense of social responsibility, and/or enable participation proactively in community activities
  • Assists in developing behavioral treatment plans with input of treatment team.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the individual receiving services to ensure effective guidance, support, and service delivery.
  • Always ensures client safety during the provision of services and remains responsive to the client's needs.
  • Collaborates with the caregivers and guardians and supports the family caregivers' efforts to provide a positive environment for the individual.
  • Verifies and ensures all required forms are completed and on file.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding the individual and family.
  • Reports incidences of suspected child and elder abuse in compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicates professionally with clients, parents, and guardians.
  • Attends and actively participates in ongoing supervision, treatment team meetings, and other meetings or trainings as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct progress notes and other written records in accordance with program standards, company policies, and state agency requirements.
  • Completes and submits all required documentation within the time frame established by company policy.
  • May provide transportation for individuals receiving services to planned and/or necessary activities and appointments.
  • Maintains confidentiality, respects human rights, and practices universal precautions.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements differ by state due to varying regulations and standards.

  • AL:
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology, social work, child development or a closely related field and two years' experience providing services to children/youth in a mental health environment; or
  • Associate of Arts Degree and four years' experience in direct service with children/youth within the behavioral health population.
  • NC:
  • High school diploma or GED required; however, Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Human services experience is preferred.
  • Must possess current CPR/FA, NCI certification, BBP training, or must complete training and certification within mandated time frame.
  • Must have driver's license, car registration, and vehicle insurance, if providing transportation for individuals receiving services. Driving record must be in good standing.
  • MS:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Human services experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Must have driver's license, car registration, and vehicle insurance, if providing transportation for individuals receiving services. Driving record must be in good standing.
