Job Description:
  • Understand and adhere to the program's policies, routines, and regulations.
  • Schedule and conduct therapeutic recreational activities, encompassing physical, educational, and social components, on a weekly basis.
  • Attend and actively participate in the activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with program requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the program.
  • Develop and implement recreational programs that cater to the interests and needs of diverse age groups.
  • Coordinate and lead group activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for participants.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to integrate recreational programs with overall organizational goals.
  • Assess participant needs and interests to tailor programs accordingly.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, and facilities related to recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, feedback, and any incidents.
  • Provide guidance and support to participants, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in recreational programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Special Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in both Therapeutic Recreation and planning/facilitating general recreational programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt programs to different needs.
  • Creativity and innovation in designing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Team-oriented with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Possession of a valid NYS Driver's License without any restrictions.
  • Successful completion of required clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver's license, and fingerprinting as mandated by the program.
  • Compliance with health regulations, including physical.
  • Successful completion of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training, including a written test and demonstration of competency in physical restraints. Ongoing commitment to completing required SCM refreshers for continued employment.
