Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. is seeking a Full time Day Treatment Mental Health Therapist. The Day Treatment Program provides services to children and families in the Day Treatment Program in accordance with the policies of Cayuga Counseling Services Inc., Cayuga Onondaga BOCES and the New York State Office of Mental Health regulations. The Mental Health Therapist is housed within a classroom At Cayuga Onondaga BOCES.This position follows Cayuga Onondaga School Calendar plus summer sessions.
The Mental Health Therapist will use their skills to:
- Provide individual and family psychotherapy for a caseload of clients in the Day Treatment Program
- Plans and Facilitates group therapy to a caseload of clients in the Day Treatment Program
- Provides crisis intervention to the clients in the program and to the families may make home visits when necessary.
- Schedules psychiatric appointments for the clients in the program.
- Attends weekly classroom team meetings to collaborate with the classroom team and support staff at BOCES.
- Participates in a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment planning, case reviews, and discharge planning.
- Plans and implements therapeutic activities that meet program goals and individual treatment plan objectives.
- Provides case management services to coordinate treatment with other agencies and providers.
- Attends collateral meetings such as Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings with the treatment team/home school district as well as treatment team meetings with families and outside service providers.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of the therapeutic environment, which meets the client's needs and promotes growth.
- Maintains an updated, accurate, clear and concise written record in the clients' chart in accordance with CCS policies and Office of Mental Health Regulations that include a psychosocial evaluation, treatment plan, progress notes, and a discharge summary with linkages, referral information, and releases of information.
- Participate in weekly supervision meetings with the Program Coordinator.
- Performs additional duties as requested by the Program Coordinator and approved by the agency administration for the implementation of program services.
Candidates must:
- Master's degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, or other graduate counseling programs.
- Minimum of one-year clinical training and experience treating children with emotional disturbances
- Have the ability to change and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
