Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY Therapist -PRTF is responsible for providing therapeutic services for patients. This position is responsible for interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family throughout treatment, developing appropriate treatment objectives and summaries, and assessing patients' response to treatment interventions. Therapist-PRTF work closely with other clinical and program staff in treatment planning and delivery of clinical services, attending all scheduled clinical staff meetings and treatment planning meetings. This position acts as the patients' and families' primary contact during the patient's stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team. This position is also a liaison with outside agencies and individuals for the purpose of developing and coordinating discharge planning with the treatment team and family. Qualifications MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum of Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related behavioral health field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Experience in a supervised clinical behavioral health care setting specific to family, individual and group therapy with children, adolescents and/or adults preferred. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these; abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy. Specialized certification in TF – CPT highly preferred. License / Certification: LCMHC/LCMHCA, LCSW/LCSWA, LMFT/LMFTA or In the process of obtaining LCMHC/LCMHCA, LCSW/LCSWA, LMFT/LMFTA. Compliance with state board requirements for supervised practice while pursuing independent licensure. BLS/CPI certification. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conducts psychosocial assessments for new patients within ten (10) days of admission. Recognizes patient's level of psychosocial development and modifies approaches accordingly to include (a) assisting the patient in development of age-appropriate coping mechanisms, (b) understanding the need and providing opportunities for social interaction with peer group. Conducts group therapy sessions for patients as scheduled. Demonstrates high level of clinical skill in assessing the clinical needs of the patient, determining appropriate group interventions and in conducting the group in accordance with those needs. Conducts individual and family therapy sessions as required as a part of the therapeutic process. Responsible for providing treatment support for PRTF patients assigned to Therapist I in his/her absence. Establishes rapport, systematically gathers data; determines the individuals readiness for treatment and change. Maintains and updates patient's treatment plan and PCP as needed but no more than 30 days. Analyzes and interprets relevant data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities. Formulates mutually agreed upon, measurable goals and objectives with the patient. Coordinates and develops discharge plan for patients. Communicates as necessary with family, parent or legally responsible person and LME, treatment goals and plans, as well as patients' progress. Adheres to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and continuing professional development. Participates with the treatment team, in planning of treatment and discharge planning. Maintains ongoing communications with members of the treatment team. Provides consultations with other treatment team members as required. Attends treatment team meetings. Offers therapeutic assistance within the milieu as appropriate. Reacts therapeutically in crisis situations. Demonstrates awareness of limitations, utilizes independent judgment. Seeks assistance from other disciplines as necessary. Reports any and all suspected abuse to the Risk Manager and proper authorities. Keeps informed of procedures for reporting incidents. Acts as a patient's advocate ensuring that the patient's right, as well as confidentiality are maintained. Full understanding of programming requirements, rules and regulations. Keeps informed of facility safety policies and procedures. Maintains knowledge of program rules and regulations and maintains consistency in implementation. Completes required documentation according to facility policy and in accordance with professional standards. Other duties as assigned by management.
