Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the therapy department with implementation of therapeutic programs and treatment activities as directed by the therapist. Also responsible for clerical tasks, wheelchair repair, and maintenance.

PAY RATE + HOURS:

8:30am - 5:00pm

$17.75

Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

* Must be awake and alert the entire shift.

* Implements therapeutic programs and performs treatment activities as directed by the therapist and in accordance with the prevailing licensure laws. This is done according to instructions from therapist or side-by-side with the therapist.

* Performs routine maintenance and repair of wheelchairs, splints, rear protector pads and other equipment.

* Assists therapist and x-ray technician when x-rays are taken for orthopedic clinic.

* Constructs/fabricates simple adaptive equipment. Assists with major projects such as wheelchair seating fittings and custom designs for beds or other equipment/environmental safety supports.

* Makes instructional signs for resident areas regarding positioning, splint schedules, mealtime programs, etc., and labels instructions on lifter equipment under the direction of the therapist.

* Trains others on transportation safety, to perform van tie downs, etc.

* May assist in transporting residents to outside appointments.

* Assists others with resident transfers, lifting and positioning.

Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED

* One year of related experience and/or training especially in areas of cerebral palsy, developmental disabilities, long term care and educational settings preferred.

* First Aid/CPR Certification

* Ability to use a computer proficiently.

* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

* Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly and push individuals who weigh up to 200 pounds in wheelchairs.

* Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.

* Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
