The successful candidate will:Under the direct supervision of therapists, assist with direct patient care. Areas of support/assistance may include:Daily hygieneActivities of Daily Living (ADL)Transferring patients from beds into wheelchairsEscorting patients to and from therapyAssisting with transfersAssisting with ambulation training on level surfaces and stairsMonitoring and maintaining cleanliness of rehab equipmentDisinfecting equipment, treatment surfaces and all non-disposable patient care itemsMaintaining treatment areas so that they are clean and in orderProviding assistance with equipment maintenance, as necessaryMonitoring and restocking suppliesKeeping storage rooms in orderChanging linen on the plinths after each patient useRestocking linen when necessaryAssisting in performing annual inventoryAssisting with clerical tasks (answer unit's phone calls and refer questions to appropriate persons, check phone messages, and assist in making copiesAttending to errands as requested by the supervisorWork in a dynamic environment across multiple settings, which treating patients and team members with care and respectModel the organization's We Care values in interactionsAdhere to SUNY Downstate Policies and ProceduresRequired Qualifications: Non-Competitive: 2-years of experience in direct patient care. Related education beyond the high school level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
