Paid, part-time positions will be trained in all areas:
  • Front-end Cashier
  • Sales Floor
  • Pricing
  • Donation Processing
These positions reports directly to the THRIFT STORE MANAGER and works closely with all ministry leaders, pastors, and support staff. These PART-time positions are divided into TWO (2) roles: PART-TIME THRIFT STORE ASSOCIATE and Northshore Christian Church (NCC) Staff Member. Essential Functions • Embody a Christian Spirit: Share your faith and inspire your team, volunteers, and customers in Christ. • Motivate and Appreciate: Cultivate a positive work culture by showing appreciation and motivating staff and volunteers. • Retail Management: Utilize your expertise in retail management to oversee daily store contributions. • Oversee donation events at NCA and after church. • Coordinate with Manager to transport inventory to the store. • Transport inventory to the processing center from donation center. • Pricing and Item Knowledge: Demonstrate your understanding of pricing strategies and item valuation to optimize merchandising and inventory management. • Inventory Management: Play a crucial role in managing inventory, ensuring well-stocked and organized shelves. • Timekeeping: Maintain accurate records of timecards and volunteer hours for staff and volunteers. • Safety and Security: Ensure the safety and security of the store, staff, and customers at all times. • Attend Peter's House board meetings as requested. • Assist the committee in developing an effective plan for NCC to Compassionately Serve our Neighbors through Thrift Store operations and revenue. Skill Requirements or High Aptitude to Learn • An understanding of non-profit organizations. • Developing Christian ministries. • Christian Spirit: Embrace and share your faith, positively impacting others through your actions. • Leadership Skills: Possess the ability to motivate, guide, and appreciate staff and volunteers effectively. • Physical Strength: Capable of handling items weighing upward of 50lbs during store operations. • Retail Experience: Demonstrate proven experience in retail management. • Pricing Knowledge: Familiarity with pricing strategies and item valuation to drive profitability. • Visual Merchandising: Creative talent in designing appealing displays for a diverse range of items. • Inventory Management: Proficient in inventory-related tasks to ensure efficient operations. • Organizational Skills: Manage timecards, volunteer hours, and store-related tasks. • Safety Conscious: Committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all. • Technical Skills - Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to build knowledge and skills. • Computer Skills - Knowledge, experience, and/or willingness to learn necessary computer hardware/software skills (e.g., word processing, e-mail, internet) required for this position, as well as the basic functionality of organizational tools for productivity and communication (e.g. Slack) Experiential/Educational Preferences • AA or BA degree in emphasis area desirable. • Experience in above-mentioned areas, ideally within a Thrift store or Big-box store setting desirable.
