Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Job Objective: The purpose of this position is to provide for the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Thrift Stores.What you will do:
- Responsible for keeping register and counter area clean and neat
- Assist people with questions, donations or general information
- Complete paperwork associated with the register, deposit money at the end of your shift
- Upon closing: clear register, account for all sales, fill out daily logbook. Turn signs, turn off lights
- Price bric-a-brac and placing on shelves
- Assist with sorting, put in appropriate bins in hanger room and hang as needed. Put bric-a-brac in shopping cart for cashier to price
- Help check drop boxes daily - empty when necessary
- Keep Christmas and Halloween items separate from bric-a-brac - box and mark for storage
- Place newer or higher priced clothing on special table in designated area
- Place all rags in designated bins
- Take garbage out when necessary
- End of shift: Clear sorting tables, sweep floor, take garbage out, clear area of carts and debris. (Neatness is a must!)
Minimum Qualifications: You should possess the quality of character that will allow you to work harmoniously within a Christian organization. You should possess a positive attitude, flexibility, sense of humor and a desire to participate in ministry to people.. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Education: High School Diploma preferred.Background Checks: This position will require a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.Experience: At least Two years of retail experience preferred. Experience in use of cash register a plus.Skills/Abilities: Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with co-workers and the public. - Able to twist, bend, squat, reach, push and pull
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to withstand exposure to outdoor temperature year-round and possible exposure to odors and dust
- Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Travel: Position may require occasional travel for trainingWorking Conditions: Work is performed in a typical thrift store environment. Position may require weekend work. Warehouse and sorting work will require working in un-air-conditioned facility.
