The Adirondack Bank Center is welcoming applications to fill a Ticket Operations Internship position for the 2024-25 season.Internship Term: October 2024 - April 2025Location: Utica, NYFormat: On-SiteExpectedTime Commitment: 10-15 hours/weekThis internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the professional sports industry and develop transferable skills that are beneficial to anyone seeking a profession in ticket operations. Supervised by the Ticket Operations Manager, this intern will learn the day-to-day responsibilities of ticketing department, including ticket operations, sales, and gameday operations.Along with in-office work, this role will assist with gameday efforts for the Utica University Men's Ice Hockey team. Over the course of the internship, there will be opportunities to support additional events at the Adirondack Bank Center and Utica University Nexus Center, including but not limited to Utica Comets and Utica City FC home games.This is an unpaid internship. Participants may qualify for academic credit if allowed by their college or university.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize Paciolan software to generate promotional codes for Adirondack Bank Center events.
- Order detail reports for use by the ticketing department.
- Assist with upkeep of the Adirondack Bank Center box office. Prepare Will Call for gamedays, sell & print tickets, and respond to customer questions and concerns.
- Prepare and deliver ticket scanners for gameday use. Manage device maintenance as needed.
- Provide outstanding customer service to fans, VIPs, and various stakeholders as a representative of the Adirondack Bank Center.
- Perform outbound sales calls to generate leads for individual, season, and group ticket opportunities.
- Aid other departments with gameday initiatives, as needed.
- Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
LEARNING OBJECTIVESFrom this Internship, participants will be able to take away the following skills and lessons and apply it in future roles:
- Understand the basic functions, responsibilities, and skills required to manage ticket operations. Utilize Paciolan software (Pac7, T.Res, etc.) and other backend systems to maintain ticketed events.
- Act as a front-facing member of a professional sports organization, engaging positively and professionally to a wide-range of stakeholders.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of individuals in a professional sports environment to navigate ever-changing conditions and successfully accomplish tasks.
- Build connections and professional relationships with other members of the sports industry.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel and Word
- Prior experience with ticketing software (Paciolan, Ticketmaster, Tickets.com, etc.) is preferred, but not required to participate in this internship.
- Can maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing game situations and can complete projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time; can lift up to 30 lb.
- Must have a flexible schedule to allow commitment to at least 80% of Utica University Men's Ice Hockey home games during the 2024-25 season, including select weekends, evenings, and holidays. This internship may also require availability for Utica Comets and Utica City FC home games as needed by Ticket Operations Manager.
- Must reside within one (1) hour of the Adirondack Bank Center
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from the Adirondack Bank Center. Reimbursement for travel, gas, lodging, etc. is not offered with this internship.
