Lifeline of Ohio coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation across Ohio, and we are seeking a Tissue & Eye Recovery Supervisor to join our Tissue team. **This is a full-time, exempt, benefits eligible position, with direct reports. This position will support Night Shift Tissue Technicians who work a 12-hr shift model, 7p-7a. Major Role: Consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Lifeline of Ohio, the Supervisor of Tissue & Eye Recovery oversees the recovery of tissue and eye from candidate donors for transplant and research. Work closely with the Manager of Tissue and Eye Recovery, Donation Support Services, Hospital Development, Organ Recovery, and Perfusion teams to timely evaluate referrals, obtain authorizations, and coordinate recovery procedures to maximize every opportunity for donation.Job Responsibilities:1. Oversee the day-to-day functions of the tissue department in collaboration with the Manager of Tissue and Eye Recovery.
- Serves as an effective liaison for the tissue and eye recovery department between our partners (ex. processors, hospital, coroners, funeral home, etc.)
- Leads department meetings.
- Assists with performance reviews.
2. Assist in the development of policies and processes for tissue and eye recovery procedures.
- Integrate tissue and eye processer requirements into Lifeline of Ohio policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement procedures for new types of recoveries implemented by processors.
- Insure all labeling and packaging, as well as charting activities in iTransplant and other information systems are followed correctly.
3. Collaborates with the planning and delivery of clinical training for tissue and eye recovery team members with the Tissue Trainer.4. Assists in the on-boarding of new staff members.5. Track and verify that all required annual training is completed by the tissue team6. Liaison with Donation Support Services (DSS) to coordinate tissue and eye recovery efforts.7. Review, recommend, and implement tissue and eye recovery research requests8. Create the monthly on-call schedule for the tissue and eye recovery team in collaboration with the Manager of Tissue and Eye Recovery based on staff availability and coverage needs.9. Review and approve timecards for front line staff members.10. Serve as the administrator on call, reviewing and approving final decisions for on-call team leads and tissue and eye recovery Tissue Technicians in the field.11. Recommend and coordinate process improvement initiatives in partnership with Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI) team to address gaps in tissue recovery performance.12. Build, lead, and maintain a high-performing, highly-engaged team that embodies Lifeline of Ohio's values.13. Assist with calls from coroner offices and funeral homes in collaboration with the Funeral Home and Coroner Liaison. Respond to complaints and troubleshoot issues.14. Participate in internal and external clinical audits as required.15. Perform tissue and eye Tissue Technician job duties (both coordination and recovery roles) and participate in the on-call schedule when needed.16. Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned.RequirementsEducation and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3 years of clinical experience in the tissue and eye donation field.
- One of Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) or Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) required.
- Acquire both CTBS and CEBT certifications within 2 years of hire.
