JOB DESCRIPTION: JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer PLANT/DEPARTMENT: Kingsford DIRECTED BY: Quality Systems Manager IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Program Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Suppliers, Customers DIRECTS: As assigned PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Investigate, analyze, and resolve internal and customer quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. MAJOR DUTIES:
  • Performs champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with the plants and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Initiates, tracks, and works with appropriate departments to timely resolve PCARs.
  • Supports delivery, warranty, and quality improvement actions to achieve the highest quality and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Identifies unique contract quality requirements and assure they are flowed down to supply chain and manufacturing.
  • Conducts internal audits to identify and correct procedural, product, or process deficiencies.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects.
  • Drives a Zero Defect mentality within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
    • 3 to 5 years in a manufacturing (weld/machining) environment
    • Familiarity with a formal Quality Management System
    • Advanced problem-solving skills
    • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Works well with diverse groups of people.
    • Ability to function independently of direct supervision.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • ISO lead auditor certified or ability to obtain lead auditor qualification
