Your work will directly affect people's lives!Primary ResponsibilitiesA tool crib position involves managing and maintaining a tool crib or tool room within an organization. The tool crib is a centralized location where tools, equipment, and supplies are stored and distributed to employees as needed. The primary responsibilities of a tool crib attendant may include:Inventory Management: The tool crib attendant is responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies. This includes tracking the quantity, condition, and location of each item. Regular audits and inspections may be conducted to ensure accuracy.Tool Distribution: When employees require tools or equipment, the tool crib attendant is responsible for issuing them. This involves verifying the employee's identification, recording the transaction, and ensuring that the tools are returned in a timely manner.Tool Maintenance: The tool crib attendant may be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and repairing tools to ensure they are in good working condition. This may involve routine maintenance tasks such as sharpening blades, replacing parts, or arranging for professional repairs when necessary.Tool Tracking: The tool crib attendant must keep detailed records of tool usage, including who has borrowed which tools and when they were returned. This information is important for tracking tool availability, identifying any missing or damaged tools, and assessing tool utilization.Reordering and Purchasing: The tool crib attendant may be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and initiating the procurement process for new tools, equipment, or supplies. This involves identifying needs, researching suppliers, obtaining price quotes, and submitting purchase orders.Safety and Compliance: The tool crib attendant must ensure that all tools and equipment meet safety standards and comply with relevant regulations.
