Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Design Drafter at Mate Precision Technologies prepares clear, complete, and accurate 2D and 3D drawings, working plans, and technical documents to support customer tooling application requirements. This role involves translating design concepts into precise, manufacturable drawings and ensures adherence to design standards and specifications. In addition to drafting responsibilities, the Design Drafter will contribute to creating custom designs and documenting non-standard designs for future reference. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares detailed 2D and 3D drawings from sketches, notes, and discussions, ensuring designs meet customer application requirements.
- Works with engineers and design teams to create custom designs for non-standard products, applying standard product design parameters or modifying designs to meet specific customer needs.
- Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all drawings and documentation.
- Provides manufacturing with clear, accurate drawings and all necessary information to produce custom products according to customer requirements.
- Creates 3D models and drawings to support custom manufacturing processes, such as CNC programming and tooling specifications.
- Updates and modifies drawings based on feedback from design reviews, engineering teams, or manufacturing.
- Documents non-standard designs for future reference, ensuring accurate and accessible records that can be used by Customer Service, Sales, and Engineering teams.
- Collaborates with manufacturing teams to clarify design details, resolve drawing discrepancies, and ensure manufacturability of custom designs.
- Ensures all designs comply with Mate's design standards and specifications.
- Maintains effective communication with internal teams including Customer Service, Sales, and Engineering, to clarify design details or revise drawings, as needed.
- Reviews and organizes drawing revisions to ensure the most current version is always available to production teams.
- Demonstrates integrity, reliability, and accountability in all work-related tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A one-year certificate from a technical school or college in a relevant field of study and 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience/training is required.
- Experience with CAD design in both 2D and 3D environments is required.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software is required.
- SolidWorks PDM experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of reading and interpreting technical documents, including blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to document non-standard designs for future reference, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Good problem-solving skills in adapting designs to meet specific customer requirements.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic knowledge of geometry and algebra, with the ability to apply these concepts to drafting tasks.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in all work.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Salary Description $34.24 - $37.35/hour
