Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Tool & Die Technician to be based out of Hebron, OH reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor. As a Tool and Die Technician, responsible for maintaining the metal forming dies and all production tooling that requires a high degree of precision. Successful technicians demonstrate an exceptional ability to fabricate machine and die parts to specification and repair equipment quickly. These abilities are directly related to a technician's attitude and extensive experience.

What you'll do:

  • Fabricate tooling and repair die problems for production equipment and related systems
  • Properly utilize measuring tools for fabrication to tight tolerances
  • Interpret complex blueprints
  • Work alone, quickly, and competently, to complete tasks
  • Standard work training, 5S, lean sustainment and problem solving
  • Communication skills to apply strong manufacturing guidelines with a strategic planning focus
  • Inspect, install, and repair equipment
  • Troubleshooting and stress testing of products
  • Ensuring all parts are properly fitted and aligned
  • Verification of dimensions and product specifications
  • Perform activities on parts, manufacturing machines, and equipment while following safety objectives according to the company's safety, quality, housekeeping, and production standards
  • Assists team members with technical issues
  • Participate in Lean Daily Manufacturing and 5S activities and promote the plant Lean culture

What you'll bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED required with a minimum of 5 years of experience repairing progressive metal stamping
  • Specialized fabrication certification is preferred
  • Fabricate tooling and repair die problems for production equipment and related systems
  • Effectively use measuring tools for fabrication to tight tolerances
  • Complete understanding of mechanical principles in machinery operation
  • Ability to distinguish various cosmetic flaws
  • Experience in machinery maintenance repair
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred
  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50lbs
  • Lean concept sustainment & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to give verbal instruction, build positive relationships, and good organizational skills
  • Flexibility of shift schedule including overtime and weekends

Within 3 months, you'll

  • Complete required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
