As the Tool Room Lead, you'll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinates the Department activity, including scheduling, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, training, capital acquisition, safety, supplies, and performance measurement.
- Establishes methods, programs, and fixtures in the production of manufactured tooling.
- Manages the workflow in the Tool Room Department along with supervision to ensure schedules are met.
- Communicates all issues of operations to the Department Supervisor.
- Identifies and implements the most efficient methods of manufacturing to produce a quality product.
- Creates source codes of machining sequences by using Engineering drawings, CAD files, and Cam Programs.
- Identifying new equipment for future business opportunities. Integration of automated systems and robotics into tool manufacturing to enhance precision and efficiency.
- As necessary, creates holding fixtures for machines to make specific tooling production possible.
- Manage and prioritize daily activities in the tool room to ensure timely completion of projects and maintenance tasks.
- Oversee the programming, set up, and operation of the CNC lathes, mills, EDM machines, and grinders to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Troubleshoot machinery and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
- Oversee tooling inventory and material, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance to support production needs.
- Train and mentor tool room technicians on CNC programming, setup procedures, and best practices for machining operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product development and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure finished tool meets customer expectation.
#LI-BS1WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing setting.
- High School Diploma or GED with 8-10 years of manufacturing, design, tooling, tool designing, manufacturing
- Associates degree (Preferred)
- Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering
- Vocational training or certification in CNC machining or related field.
- Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) for CNC programming.
- Be able to operate a variety of machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinder, and EDMs (Preferred)
- Understanding of cutting tools and able to find improvements in the process.
- Proven Leadership role to effectively train, monitor and provide feedback on performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication and math skills are necessary.
- Computer skills are required, particularly the ability to use Microsoft Office products, and Data
- Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
