SUMMARY:A Tooling Designer creates concepts, designs, and trouble shoots tooling used in the fabrication, welding and assembly of sheet metal and tubing structures. Other responsibilities will include design for manufacturability, tooling safety and ergonomics. You must be a result driven individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, attention to detail, able to influence across the organization and desire to make a difference.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Quote and develop design concepts independently.* Develop and design tooling and fixtures from concept, through build process and prove-out in manufacturing through entire product life.* Lead design reviews with manufacturing engineering, product design & tool makers (internal & external) on a regular basis to manufacture product efficiently.* Develop work plans and execute work independently within requirements of product design specifications, cost parameters, and assure expected quality requirements.* Design safe and ergonomically correct tools and fixtures for manufacturing* Communicate project status to the team and organization.* Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.* Develop design solutions and manufacturing solutions based on a comprehensive understanding of Crenlo and external manufacturing processes and capabilities.* Requires a comprehensive understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements and couples this knowledge with an understanding of manufacturing process capabilities for optimal design for manufacturability.* Provide concise and effective technical guidance and communication to internal and external customers; builds effective technical communication paths with internal and external customers.* Interact with external customers as representative of Crenlo and Crenlo manufacturing teams.* Support the resolution of current production design-based issues, accurately define and deliver on customer requested production improvements and changes.* Develop product design improvements using as a tool CREO-Parametric 4.0 (or higher versions)* Make 3D mathematic models and 2D detailed drawings* Lead cross-functional design reviews to gain design direction consensus* Consistently produce accurate build drawingsKEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:* Proficient in Pro-E Solidworks or similar modelling software required* Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices required* Ability to create necessary documentation (drawings, BOMs) to support the manufacturing of the fixtures and tooling required.* Experience working in a team environment required.
