Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Tooling Engineer is responsible for managing the cost, design, build, and development of tooling related to the injection molding process. This position will interact with customers, the injection molding department, the internal mold shop, external suppliers, and sub-contractors. At ADDMAN you'll be part of a skilled and growing team pushing the limits of aerospace and additive manufacturing. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Part of a cross-functional engineering team with the responsibility of being the technical lead for tooling.
  • Oversee, track, and coordinate tool design and build including program kickoff, engineering changes, repair jobs, and customer transfer molds.
  • Develop tool design concepts with tool designers and other members of the engineering and production team.
  • Lead cross-functional Design Review(s) to ensure customer and production requirements are satisfied.
  • Coordinate and establish accurate timelines and progress reports for tool build(s), sampling activities, or other engineering activities.
  • Track and monitor the engineering portion of mold tooling projects against quoted assumptions.
  • Liaison between internal departments including, but not limited to, Quality, Molding, Process Engineering, Tool Room, Shipping, and Scheduling.
  • Coordinates mold samples required to qualify new tools and the first article inspection.
  • Ensures mold qualification requirements and customers' mold approval needs are met.
  • Communicates with customers and is the key interface between Harbec and customer.
  • Participates, as requested, in Customer meetings about tooling programs.
  • Coordinates both corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
  • Engineering support of day-to-day production and operations needs.
  • Must be able to use CAD to review tool designs. SolidWorks is preferable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Strictly adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures.
RequirementsSKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Commitment to a safety culture where safety is the first consideration before starting any task.
  • 3D CAD, and SolidWorks is preferable.
  • GD&T knowledge and ability to analyze and understand customer part prints.
  • Sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions.
  • The ability to use statistical methods to analyze process capability.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills along with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline with 1-3 years of relevant experience in injection mold design and build.

  • A combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment may be required.
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Sit or stand as needed.
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques are required.
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confined spaces while following proper safety protocol.
  • Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
