Tooling EngineerGENERAL SUMMARY: The Tool Engineer develops and supports the tooling related activities in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to, performance improvements, cost savings, and issue resolution. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Tasks listed are not meant to be all-encompassing:•Monitor tool performance and condition at the machine, in the preset area, and at the un-scheduled tool change table. •Review tool usage to ensure the cost-effective use of resources and sustained supply•Coordinate the urgency of replacement tool orders based on previous usage with the Customer Service Representatives •Act as the single point of contact to resolve tool-related problems in the manufacturing environment •Coordinate plant resources as required to resolve safety, quality, throughput, and excessive cost issues related to tooling •Support the customers in the resolution of machining and tooling related issues •Manage tooling budgets and report budget performance •Recommend changes to cutting parameters to optimize the machining process and, in some cases, implement these changes •Support customer-initiated tooling improvements •Lead self-initiated tooling improvements, with prior customer and corporate engineering approval •Communicate with supervisors and peers •Develop and maintain a plan to reduce tooling costs through individual and systemic cost reductions •Conduct tool trials with prior customer and corporate engineering approval whilst adhering to approved practices, processes, and documentation requirements •Coordinate the updating and revising of mechanical drawings related to tooling •Use and maintain the PFEP (Plan For Every Part) •Use and complete the ACD (Add, Change, and Delete) process accordingly•Adhere to internal and external Customer specific procedures and processes •Attend regularly scheduled operations and problem-solving meetings •Report and document Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Continuous Improvements •Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall plant goals •Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards •Make decisions within the limits of general standards or procedures About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
