About the Role
Provides dimensional and tooling support to the maintenance department. Able to work at various locations within and outside the plant. Can operate a variety of tools and machines within the Assembly department and tool room. The Assembly Toolmaker is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.
Your Responsibilities
Services, maintains, and controls dimensional integrity of weld line tooling.
Able to operate a variety of machine tools (i.e. TIG/MIG /Stick Welders, lathes, milling machines, drill press etc.)
Verify conformance of machines or repaired tooling to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
Troubleshoot for problems during production.
Able to set up appropriate tools in the department.
Always follow safe work practices and company work procedures.
Assure work performed complies with QS9000 standards.
Maintain tooling Quality STD's and Preventative/ Predictive Maintenance program to ensure compliance with QS9000 Requirements.
Able to work overtime as required.
Perform other duties as required.
Works with quality department to improve quality.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customer, and the general public.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manufacturing Environment
80% Standing and walking
20% Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:
Various machines, such as drills, sanders, lathes, milling machines, CNCs, etc.
Different types of welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree or equivalent from two years college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship program.
Tool and Die Maker with related experience/familiar with assembly tooling work.
Good hand dexterity, mechanical skills, mathematical skills and organizational skills.
Must have a minimum of 7 years' experience with assembly tooling with minimum 5 years of specializing with new assembly tool construction and robot tooling.
Hemming die or clinch tool experience is a must.
Metrology experience is required including exposure to and using master-buck tooling.
