Who will you be working with?
The Railroad Friction Product Corporation (RFPC) designs and manufactures high-friction and low-friction composition, sintered brake shoes, specialty shoes, and disc brake linings for freight, locomotive and transit vehicles.
How will you make a difference?
The Total Manufacturing Cost (TMC) Manager will support RFPC's Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing, Finance and Engineering departments. This role will have responsibility to create, maintain and analyze all Bill of Materials and routings in Oracle. The TMC Manager will provide support in establishing direct labor hours and manufacturing costs for all processes and products. The TMC Manager will run comparisons to ensure accuracy of the BOM's and routings established in Oracle and highlight areas for improvement. This position will provide cost estimates to Engineering and Sales/Marketing for new projects. Close collaboration and partnership will be needed with the Controller in areas related to Inventory, Costing, and Special Projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting/Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, Statistics, Manufacturing, or Management is required.
* Experience: a minimum combination of seven years' experience in purchasing, logistics, finance, operations, enterprise resource planning and education.
* Experienced with MS Office and ERP Systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Manufacturing, or Management.
* Certifications from CPSM, CPIM, SPSM and CSCP.
* Knowledge of friction materials, braking, and/or railroad air brakes preferred.
What will your typical day look like?
* Set up and maintain all bills of material in the Oracle ERP system.
* Set up and maintain all routings in the Oracle ERP system for all part numbers.
* Perform cost updates in the Oracle ERP system.
* Perform Direct Labor time studies on all processes for all part numbers.
* Ongoing analysis of actual Direct Labor Hour timing per process to ensure accuracy and highlight areas of trending concern for a deeper understanding.
* Ongoing analysis of actual manufacturing costs versus our system standards. This would be reported and reviewed monthly with management resulting in actions going forward to reduce variances.
* Ongoing analysis of actual product flow to ensure accuracy with the system routing.
* Ongoing analysis of Manufacturing processes scrap and yield percentages to keep Oracle BOM's updated.
* Provide cost estimates to Engineering and Sales/Marketing for new projects.
* Perform frequent assessments of actual manufacturing material usage compared to Bill of Materials and track/analyze overtime to ensure accuracy compared to active Bill of Materials
* Gather historical cost data to compare current budgeted and current actual cost to historical cost trends.
* Monitor, prepare and evaluate detailed analytical reports regarding costs, productivity, efficiencies, spend and variances. Work with the operations team to provide actional operating improvements and process improvements.
* Develop and maintain metrics and tracking for major cost drivers.
* Perform analysis of variances; identify areas of risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
* Lead cycle counts and analyze variances to determine opportunities for improvements.
* Provide data and support during STRAP and BUDGET process.
* Collaborate with Controller as needed in areas related to Inventory, Costing, and Special Projects

Work Environment:
* General work environment: Work should be split between a desk in a well-lit, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels and the operation floor where many mechanical presses exist reaching high temperatures.
* Ability to sit for hours at a time, viewing computer monitor and using telephone on a constant basis; some walking and standing relative to interaction with other personnel
* Ability to stand and observe for long periods of time in the operations environment.
* Occasionally required to lift and/or move items weighing 10 - 15 pounds
* Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and areas where equipment/product reaches high temperatures is possible.
* Exposure to dusty and fragrant conditions, varying temperature levels, and high noise environments is possible.
