Position Overview
Do you enjoy providing world class service and creating exceptional experiences for your customers? Do you excel at planning and organizing? The tour & group specialist is responsible for executing all details for our clients' tour and group experience. This includes travel reservations and documentation, promoting group trips by conducting group presentations, and joining some of your groups as their escort. Work closely with vendors and use your negotiation skills to secure the best possible rates. Join our Adelman Discoveries team and be the reason our clients have the trip of a lifetime.
The preferred locations for this position are Milwaukee, WI and Springfield, MO; however, virtual candidates will also be considered.
How you'll move the needle
* Design, sell and manage daily operations of various group and tour programs.
* Advise client as needed through the tour registration process
* Creatively design and distribute client-specific marketing materials, such as layouts, messaging, and production materials, to meet company and/or client needs.
* Procure client objectives and budget to effectively plan, organize, and manage all program elements, including all details for on-site program operations.
* Manage all aspects of event planning logistics for various size groups annually traveling throughout Europe; serve as escort as needed.
* Cultivate relationships with vendors world-wide to negotiate rates and ensure quality program operations.
* Build rapport with each client, acting as main point of contact from the initial sale, through the executed trip, to rebooking for future programs.
* Attend on-site hotel inspections to ensure acceptable company and client standards are met.
* Assist with product-marketing strategies, including advertising campaigns or sales promotions; collaborate with sales and marketing department as appropriate.
Ideal experience and talent
* Three plus years' experience in leisure, tour and/or group sales. Previous experience escorting groups is preferred.
* Ability to occasionally travel on an annual basis to select domestic and international destinations.
* Proven ability to effectively negotiate contracts
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a manner can be easily understood by others; ability to write creative content is a plus.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build relationships.
* Aptitude and ability to learn and familiarize yourself with travel industry process and terminology as well as with new and ever-changing technology.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook).
