Description
The Certified Tower Climber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of communication towers. This role requires working at significant heights and involves a variety of tasks including equipment installation, site inspections, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.
Requirements
Role and Responsibilities
* Install, inspect, and maintain communication equipment and antennas on towers and other elevated structures.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintenance of climbing gear.
* Safely handle and transport tools and equipment to and from job sites. Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
* Evaluate job sites and identify potential hazards. Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
* Diagnose and repair technical issues with communication equipment. Ensure proper functionality and performance.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, including equipment usage, site conditions, and any issues encountered. Complete required paperwork and reports.
* Work effectively with team members and other departments to ensure timely project completion and high-quality results.
* Respond to emergency situations as needed, including tower rescues and equipment failures.
Qualifications and Education Requirements?
* Valid certification as a tower climber required (e.g., NATE certification, OSHA certification, or equivalent).
* Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a tower climber or in a similar role.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work at heights exceeding 100 feet/meters in all types of weather conditions.
* Proficiency in using climbing equipment, tools, and safety gear required.
* Basic understanding of telecommunications and communication equipment.
* Strong knowledge of safety practices and regulations related to tower climbing and construction.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
* Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and travel to various job sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:
* Ability to use hand tools, power tools and ladders
* Ability to work in various temperature ranges both indoors and outdoors.
* Ability to read, speak and hear clearly.
* Ability to see well enough to read and interpret reports, diagrams, and manuals, and operate a motor vehicle.
* Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds or poles
* Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch or crawl
* Ability to lift, push, pull, and routinely move at least 50 pounds.
