Job Description : Huntsman is seeking a Senior Mammalian Toxicologist supporting the Global EHS Division (The Woodlands, Texas). This position will report to the Toxicology Team Manager. Job scope The senior Mammalian toxicologist will provide expert advice to all business divisions, by the application of professional judgment in toxicology and issue management. The candidate is responsible for conducting hazard, exposure and risk assessments, supporting notification and registration processes and representing Huntsman in consortia and trade associations. The candidate should have a strong background in Mammalian toxicology including human health risk assessment, analytical chemistry, as well as proven track record of teamwork capability. Laboratory experiences are preferred. The candidate will design toxicology testing and assessment strategies with the aim to minimize animal testing without risking the environmental or human health safety profile of products. Given the role supports a global team and all regions, semi-frequent travel will be necessary. The Senior Mammalian toxicologist will operate with minimal supervision. Their core responsibilities are as follows: The candidate will serve as the competency expert on cross-functional teams and act as Study Monitor for a broad array of in vivo and in vitro toxicology studies for EPA, EU, and other global regulatory agencies including higher tier mammalian toxicology DART & inhalation toxicology studies. Provide technical toxicology support at all stages of product development (R&D of new chemicals/products and/or new markets and uses). Including contribution to the development of strategic planning which minimizes risk to the global product portfolio. This requires the candidate to understand the requirements set forth by the authorities in the different regions (TSCA, REACH, Canada, Korea, China) and collaborate with regulatory specialists to ensure regulatory compliance. Perform regulatory risk and impact assessments to ensure product sustainability and ensure effective communication to internal stakeholders. Use of in silico tools (QSAR and read across) for screening, prioritization and where appropriate, regulatory endpoint data submission. Collaborate with colleagues to prepare dossier submissions in IUCLID or other formats. Includes application of read-across approaches for mammalian toxicology endpoint data requirements. Technical lead for mammalian toxicology related issue management or substance defense. Steer advocacy strategies with regulatory bodies and active participation in discussions with global authorities across the Huntsman portfolio. Maintain technical expertise in areas of Mammalian toxicology and risk assessment. Keep abreast of relevant regulations, legislation and emerging issues related to human health hazard. Communicate impact to relevant Huntsman division. Externally represent Huntsman in trade associations and industry groups with the goal to develop and advance new methodologies and frameworks for chemical safety assessment. Liaise with external experts where needed to ensure sufficient expertise for special projects. When required supervise associates and assist in mentoring/training aspects of resource development. Qualifications You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of relevant professional experience W/ advanced Degree (Master/ PhD) preferably in an international company in the chemical or pharmaceutical sector, or at a Contract research organization. Extensive applied experience in mammalian and regulatory toxicology & risk management (DART and/or inhalation toxicology experience is an advantage). Practical knowledge of the relevant software tools, eg: OECD QSAR toolbox, IUCLID, CHESAR, easyTRA. Experience in exposure assessment preferably with the use of tools such as EASYTRA, CHESAR, ChemSTEER. Extensive experience with EU REACH, TSCA and Canada chemical registration Experience with consortia and trade association work. Fluency in English. Ability to work with colleagues globally in a multi-cultural environment and in a hybrid setting is essential. Preferred Qualifications: Professional certification as Mammalian toxicologist is a plus. Practical experience with China and Korea chemical registration is a plus. Experience interacting with regulatory agencies in the US, Europe, or globally through white papers or in-person meetings is a plus Previous lab experience on human toxicity safety assays is desirable Remote work is an option.
