Job Summary: The Construction Inspector (Track Inspector) will inspect railroad track to ensure compliance with railroad standards, state regulations, & the FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart G and will produce reports of tracks inspected.   • Inspect railroad track structure (primarily on foot) for compliance with railroad standards, state regulations, & the FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart G
  • Detect deviations from federal (FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart G)/state regulations & Identify areas requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Implement remedial action on defects, pending repair
  • Maintain compliance with safe work procedures, FRA guidelines, and RailPros policies and procedures
  • Clear communication of track condition both written & verbal
  • Produce accurate & detailed reports of track inspected
  • Participate in derailment investigations if required
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel to various locations in region for extensive periods of time
  • A valid driver's license
Required Education and Experience:
  • 5 years' experience as a railroad track inspector or MOW Foreman or MOW Supervisor
  • Qualify for the maintenance and inspections of track in compliance with the FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart G
  • Knowledge of railroad construction materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understand and apply safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of railroad operations and physical characteristics
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 10 years' experience as a railroad track inspector or MOW Foreman or MOW Supervisor preferably with a Class 1 RR or the FRA
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
  • Ability to pass ERailSafe background check
  • Valid Driver's License required
