Academic Calendar Year 2024/2025
PAY RANGE:
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour depending on experience
WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may work up to 19 hours per week.
DRESS CODE:
Long pants with temperature-resistant materials, and no loose clothing; long hair must be restrained; closed-toed shoes; any required safety equipment is provided by supervisor.
POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:
Supports the Firearms Technologies Department and/or instructors
POSITION DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the supervisor, performs general Firearms/Machining-bay housekeeping.
Duties may include:
* Performs machining and repairs as well as assisting instructors, as needed
* Provides general maintenance and cleaning
* Designs and constructs instructional demonstration aids
* May perform other like duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester, and
* Must have successfully completed FT_100_01
* Ability to work with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment, and
* Ability to problem-solve and follow directions, and be self-motivated, and
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and
* Ability to consistently provide quality customer service to customers, visitors and coworkers, and
* Possesses a cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, students, and public
STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
Operation of firearms and equipment, read, interpret and create design drawings, communication skills, critical thinking, effective reasoning, planning, collaboration
PREDICTED OUTCOME:
Practical competence, critical thinking, collaboration, communicating effectively, technological competence
STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
* Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
* Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
* Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
* Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
