We are a dynamic team of trades professionals, custodians, supervisors and administrative staff who work every day to make our facilities the best in North Carolina. Ideal candidates for the Facilities Management department should possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to prioritize schedules, and a true desire to serve the employees and citizens of New Hanover County.Responsibilities for this role include:
- Supervises two or more full-time staff, prioritizes and assigns work; conducts performance evaluations; ensures staff is trained; and makes hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Creates work schedules and assigns maintenance and repair work orders to appropriate Technicians and Specialists.
- Creates and implements preventative maintenance and inspection schedules for County buildings, facilities, and equipment.
- Oversees acquisition of materials and services for repairs from appropriate vendors.
- Coordinates and oversees contractor PM service and repairs on elevators and generators at various county sites.
- Assists with repairs to County buildings and facilities.
- Coordinates with contractors and vendors for larger projects, as needed.
- Trains new and current employees.
- Works on-call shifts and reports after hours and weekends for emergencies.
- Performs work with regular and predictable attendance consistently meeting the scheduling needs as required by the county.
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Knowledge of supervisory principles; County personnel policies and procedures; Knowledge of electrical systems and repair methods; general mechanical principles; building code and building permit process. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, and three (3) years of experience demonstrating supervisory ability; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. - Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
