Essential Duties & Responsibilities Position Summary: Performs semi-skilled work involving the inspection, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of City buildings/facilities and their related infrastructure. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The duties listed are intended to serve as an example of the typical functions performed. They are not exclusive, or all inclusive, and will vary with assignments.)
- Performs inspections on buildings, park facilities and other structures to determine functionality of systems; provides Supervisor with recommendations using a pre-established inspection sheet.
- Performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and installations to building systems to include but not limited to flooring, interior/exterior lighting, roofing, fire suppression, fixed/portable power generators, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, small appliances and plumbing fixtures using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets).
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on City buildings, facilities, and equipment and oversees custodial responsibilities when needed.
- Completes work orders, accident reports, inspection checklists and other documents as assigned.
- Maintains security, locks and unlocks doors and arms and disarms alarm systems where applicable.
- Performs various miscellaneous tasks, including but not limited to setting up for events, moving furniture and equipment and replacing flags, painting, carpentry and masonry work.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Ensures employees are adhering to proper preventive maintenance schedules, operation and proper working order of tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Performs research of workload optimization through operational efficiencies, new technologies and best practices.
- Enforces safety procedures and regulations.
- Acts as lead on-site employee when assigned by Supervisor.
- Provides input on improvements to work procedures and safety practices to improve the functions of areas of responsibility.
- May be required to be on twenty-four-hour call and/or regularly work on various shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as deemed necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to:
- Pass FDLE and CJIS Security Clearance: As mandated by the FDLE, CJIS and PBSO, this position may be subject to additional security clearances due to access to the Sheriff's department facility.
- Work effectively in the absence of close supervision.
- Electronic testing of electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters.
- Work independently and complete work assignments accurately and in a timely basis.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools and mechanical equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of HVAC units, plumbing, lighting systems, fire suppression systems and roof repairs.
- Follow safety rules and regulations of the Department and the City.

Education & Experience Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; four (4) years of specialized experience as a skilled tradesperson in assigned trade or performing manual work which involved the use of an acquired skill such as in building maintenance and repair work, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Advanced experience with electrical systems is highly desirable.
- May be required to attain and maintain various other certifications and/or licenses as related to trade and assignment.
- Forklift certification within six (6) months of employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
