Full-TimeLakewood, Colorado 80228 ARA is seeking to hire a full-time Traffic Engineer to work for our Mid-Atlantic Division (MAD). The selected candidate will work at the Federal Highway Administration's Central Federal Lands office, located at 12300 W. Dakota Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228. The employee may be allowed to telework up to two days a week following Client Policy for Government employees, and upon Program Manager approval. Travel up to eight times per year is anticipated.The Field Operations Technical Support Center (FOTSC) operates and maintains ~125 continuous traffic count stations located in ~40 National Parks in ~27 states. ARA is seeking a qualified Traffic Engineer to support the FOTSC office in Lakewood, CO in their data collection, review, managing and reporting efforts.The deadline to apply for this position isWhat you will do as a Traffic Engineer for EFL FOTSC:The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:
- Traffic Engineer or related field (statistician, planner, civil engineer, etc.) with a minimum of two years' experience.
- Successful completion of an engineering degree or related field (as described above), at an accredited university or college.
- Experience with traffic monitoring practices and database operation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Field work in parks may require hiking up to 0.5 miles in rugged terrain.
Experience with the following is preferred but not required:
- Creating summary traffic related statistics (eg, AADT, DHV, etc).
- Conducting QA/QC on coverage count traffic data.
- Analyzing traffic data for traffic patterns.
- Assisting in the creation of various traffic data summary reports.
- Giving oral presentations.
- Reviewing inspection reports created by others.
- Conducting field work, inspecting/repairing existing count stations based on specifications and creating inspection reports.
Security:The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check prior to initiating work. Full details on FHWA security procedures will be provided upon employment.
