Conducts counts, surveys, studies, and related traffic control investigations. Essential Job Duties
  • Inspects and analyzes local traffic conditions and data.
  • Conducts traffic counts, surveys, and studies.
  • Investigates field conditions, and determines the need for new traffic control installations, or the modification or replacement of existing installations.
  • Investigates complaints and reports of potential traffic hazards.
  • Reviews work zone traffic control.
  • Conducts neighborhood traffic management studies.
  • Prepares reports and summarizes statistics regarding findings.
  • Prepares sketches of existing conditions and proposed traffic control changes such as channelization plans and signal and marking plans.
  • Prepares and writes traffic legislation proposals.
  • Initiates and prepares work orders.
  • Makes field inspections to ensure work was completed in accordance with prepared plans and specifications.

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent; Plus Two years' experience in traffic operations, subprofessional engineering, surveys, and/or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
