This position is required to respond to traffic signal emergencies to make repairs in a timely manner. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Maintains traffic signal operations.
- Responds to traffic signal emergencies.
- Locates underground utilities.
- Performs preventative maintenance on signal sites.
- Tests essential traffic signal components.
- Installs new signal and traffic control devices.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the business needs of Beaufort County.
Typical Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Must be able to obtain International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Work Zone Safety Certification within 6 months.
- Must be able to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1/2 Certifications within 1 year.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
