Job Description:

Duties: Have a thorough knowledge of electrical systems and components of traffic control devices required to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair street lighting, traffic signals systems, and related equipment, including traffic signal supports and foundations, traffic signal signing, streetlights, flashers, controllers, signal indications, conflict monitors, detectors and other electrical components. Repairs equipment as instructed and when observed. Uses voltmeter, standard hand tools, electric drills, and other types of electrical test equipment to identify problems. Is able to make simple program changes to controllers for testing and field conditions. Assists in the planning and layout of conduit and cables necessary to provide signal operation in the conformance with the latest version of Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Operates various types of equipment including a forklift and bucket lift, and boom trucks. Subject to emergency call-out and periodic standby shifts. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.

Qualifications: Associate's degree (A. A.) in engineering or related subject or technical school; or three years traffic related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents related to job duties. Valid Texas Driver's License. Must have thorough knowledge of electrical systems and components of traffic control devices with Level I IMSA Certification.
