Your Impact

As our infrastructure ages and the world population increases, Jacobs' worldwide staff of professionals use new technology and expertise to develop innovative solutions to address future transportation demand.

We are looking for a collaborative Transportation/ Traffic Engineer to join our Mid-Atlantic Advanced Mobility (AM) group of about 50 transportation planners, traffic / ITS engineers and operations specialists with a wide variety of talent and experience. When you join us, you'll take a leading role on transportation planning projects, traffic engineering through traffic safety and operational improvement studies for intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors.

This role requires a solid understanding of traffic analysis fundamentals, including intersection signal timing, design, and operations. You will apply your expertise by managing tasks that involve traffic simulation and signal optimization to reduce congestion (using Synchro, VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, SIDRA or related software). Additionally, you will develop multi-modal solutions which consider all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit users of all ages and abilities. Experience with Temporary Traffic Control, work zone safety and/or Maintenance of Traffic during construction is preferred. As a key team member, you'll manage or support projects involving transportation technology including innovative, technology-driven approaches to serving transportation agency's evolving needs.

* Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

* Professional Engineering (PE) License in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to get licensed within one year of start date.

* 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning

* Experience using Synchro,HCS, SIDRA or related software

* Ability to lead multiple tasks and work independently

* Ability to collaborate and contribute to a diverse and multi-disciplinary team

* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

* Experience presenting at stakeholder/public meetings as part of project outreach

Ideally you'll also have:

* PTOE, AWZTC, ATSSA certifications

* AutoCAD/ Microstation experience

* Experience with VISSIM/VISUM
