Academic Advising and Support is home to the Trailblazer Peer Tutor Center, located on the first floor in room 108. Students can schedule an appointment or drop-in to the Tutor Center during open hours and find a peer tutor available to assist with further review of course material or some general study strategies. Peer tutors meet one on one and in small groups with students to engage and empower peers with their learning.

Responsibilities:

* Model successful college study habits and build students self-efficacy.

* Professionally conducting tutoring sessions as scheduled.

* Reporting tutee attendance and progress using Navigate 360.

* Communicating with staff and Faculty.

* Complete accurate and objective documentation of sessions.

* Attend and participate in required training sessions and staff meetings.

* Becoming familiar with texts and other resources useful for tutoring.

* Complete and submit time sheets and tutorial notes in a timely manner.

* Promote the mission of the Trailblazer Tutor Center and believe in every students' ability to learn and achieve academic success.

Requirements:

Tutors must have earned a B or better grade in the course(s) they wish to tutor and:

* Have an appropriate background in that discipline.

* Have a 2.5 overall grade point average.

* Be recommended by two faculty members, at least one from the department offering the course to be tutored.

* Be interviewed by a staff member.

* Model themselves as continuous learners and leaders among peers and within the campus community.

Additional Information:

This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.
