Job Overview:
  • Schedule: 35 hours per week, typical working Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some flexibility to work weekends

Henry Street is governed by a 45-member Board of Directors and is supported by government grants and contracts, as well as foundation, corporate, and individual support.About this role:Train & Earn is a part of Henry Street Settlement's Education and Employment Services, a $15M envision providing a continuum of services from early childhood education through adult workforce programs designed to assist individuals in obtaining the skills necessary for lifetime self-sufficiency. The overall goal of the WIOA-funded Train & Earn Program is to provide comprehensive occupational and work readiness training for out-of-school-out-of-work (OSOW) youth 18-24 to gain entry into high-growth occupations tied to in-demand sectors. Occupational training must be tied to one sector, and Henry Street Settlement's is industrial & infrastructure, and specifically in Building Automated Systems Management. This work takes form via collaboration with our longstanding training partner, Stacks & JoulesThe Train & Earn Job Developer will bridge the gap between employer and Train & Earn participants by establishing strong industry relationships that result in direct placement of members in internships, apprenticeships, and/or gainful employment within the clean/renewable energy and sustainability sector. You have:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree or High School Diploma with equivalent years of experience required
  • 2-3 years of experience in job development, account or stakeholder management, sales or recruitment
  • Exceptional business-to-business sales skills with a demonstrated ability to generate new job leads, close deals, and deliver efficient and quality results
  • Prior experience working with individuals with barriers to employment preferred
  • Demonstrated experience meeting weekly & monthly metrics for a performance-driven setting
  • Superior communications skills, ability to engage a wide range of constituents
  • Process-oriented with demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team and work independently
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Impeccable time management skills and accountability of work requirements
  • Knowledge of New York City labor market trends and specific insight into green and sustainability sectors a major plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Google Docs, PP, and online sourcing tools
You will:
  • Successfully cultivate and secure monthly metrics of no less than 10 unsubsidized employment placements/commitments including part-time and/ or full-time employment of 20 hours a week or more to meet program demand
  • Collaborate with Stacks and Joules, as well as the Director of Business Development & Workforce Partnerships to develop and maintain relationships with employers (small and large business accounts) to generate job opportunities, internships, and/or apprenticeships for members
  • Possess a comprehensive job bank and the ability to leverage relationships with employers that meet the criteria for industrial and infrastructure-specific employment, internship, and apprenticeships
  • Work closely with program team members and employers to determine the best employment matches based on skills, qualifications, and interests
  • Proficiency at supporting the employment needs of Train & Earn eligible participants, meeting one or more of the following criteria: basic skills deficiency; English language learners; court-involved youth; homeless youth or a runaway, in foster care or has aged out of the foster care system, a child eligible for assistance under section 477 of the Social Security Act, or in out-of-home placement; a youth who is pregnant or parenting; a youth with a disability; or a youth who is low-income who requires additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure or hold employment
  • Conduct regular follow up with employers to establish strong communication channels, identify best practices, areas for improvement, possibilities for advancement, and next steps to maximize connections to viable job opportunities, internships, and/or apprenticeships
  • Design and create recruitment strategies, job fairs, on-site employer visits and facilitate info sessions for internet job searches and application processes
  • Market job opportunities, internships, and/or apprenticeships to job-seekers and their employment coordinators through one-on-one meetings, on-site recruitment events, and social media outlets
  • Help prepare candidates for interviews one-on-one or in group/workshop settings, screen candidates for job interviews, and make appropriate referrals to employers
  • Make ongoing follow-up calls to employers to determine employment status and collect employment verification documents
  • Network with businesses, trade associations, and other groups to develop new employer relationships
  • Document and track activity and performance in Henry Street's internal and external funder database including job development leads, employer relationships, and contacts
  • Coordinate employer outreach with the Program Director and the Director of Business Development & Workforce Partnerships
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Physical Job Functions:
  • Moving office furniture; tables and chairs for indoor and outdoor events, and in the event of leaks or flooding
  • Moving office equipment (laptops and portable printers) to nearby office locations
