Salary: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 AnnuallyLocation : Auburn Hills CampusJob Type: Management Staff ExemptJob Number: 202400075Division: Economic & Workforce Dev SvcsOpening Date: 12/16/2024Closing Date: 1/12/2025 11:59 PM EasternSummary of Purpose The position is responsible for a full range of learning and development activities for instructor-led and web based training and learning for EWD (Economic Workforce Development) programs (non-credit). This position will conduct needs assessments, design and develop curriculums/instructional plans, evaluate training programs, and certifications for effectiveness, and provides consultation for a broad array of learning and development issues while staying current with the newest educational trends and technological developments. Work is performed in a collaborative environment, requires the ability to multitask, and often work with aggressive timelines. This position is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment. Typical Duties This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:
  • Designs and develops highly complex course curricula and related content and materials using a variety of delivery methods including face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line. Methods such as eLearning tools may be integrated to develop web-based training.
  • Employs solid instructional design methodology, interactive activities, and job aids that include competency- based evaluations
  • Develops, conducts and supports individual and group training across a range of subject areas.
  • Designs and develops hybrid and on-line courses and may recommend appropriate instructional technologies, including online learning/web-based formats. Use of video editing software may be required.
  • Documents new and existing curriculum processes, products, and system functionalities.
  • Evaluates training programs, curricula, and certifications for effectiveness and desired outcomes. Utilizes feedback to initiate changes, refinements and improvements
  • Collaborates with other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Trainers, Program Staff, and full time and adjunct faculty to ensure the best utilization of resources and establish best practices.
  • Creates and maintains relationships with area businesses to promote all EWD programs.
  • Works collaboratively with program staff to research, review, and provide recommendations on existing or new EWD curriculum/programs.
  • Develops strategic plans for development of training curricula, professional development and technical programs.
  • Provides instructional support and design to EWD training programs and/or students.
  • Revises, edits, and critiques existing public domain or vendor curriculum for traditional, self-paced, or modularized delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality through proprietary information agreements.
  • Provides activity reports as required or requested.
  • Interfaces with EWD clients; partners with program staff
  • Maintains currency and relevancy through ongoing professional development.
  • Assists in the maintenance, safe use, and security of facilities, supplies, and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Knowledge and Skills Required
    • Subject matter expert in one or more technical areas
    • Demonstrated project management experience
    • Working knowledge of graphic software applications and Learning Management systems
    • Experience integrating technology into course curriculum through a variety of delivery methods
    • Attention to detail and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously, and remain detail oriented
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Excellent skills with on-line learning products and technologies
    • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
    Minimum Education and Experience EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree required. Certification in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related discipline preferred. EXPERIENCE:Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in teaching and instructional design demonstrating multitasking, planning, project management, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to specify learning objectives, outcomes, and develop and deliver assessments, course materials, and learning activities that are aligned with stated objectives and outcomes required.Additional areas of preferred expertise for this position:Experience within Advanced Manufacturing (and specific to electrical controls hardware and software design) in leading curriculum development and instructional design, teaching/facilitating trainings, and providing project management to support the development and delivery of individual courses and programs.
