Provides advanced level coaching, technical assistance and training services consistent with identified project goals and objectives. The Training and Consultation Specialist is primarily responsible for delivering training and coaching support to personnel in public New Jersey schools on the implementation of a tiered intervention framework for conduct, behavior, and social and emotional wellness. Responsibilities include participating in the planning, coordination and provision of training, curriculum development; coordination and provision of coaching and technical assistance to personnel in network schools through email, phone and on-site support as prescribed by the project implementation protocol; completing administrative duties (e.g., maintaining technical assistance logs, managing product archive, etc.); responding to requests for information; and other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Participation in duties related to working within a team structure: preparing for trainings, training set up / clean up (which includes lifting and transporting training materials), maintenance of the project suite and resources, responsiveness to and participation in team discussions, using the team planning calendar, respecting co-workers, using time efficiently, friendly and constructive communication, collaboration with co-trainers, and coordination with NJ DOE-OSE.
- Maintaining School Specific Documentation: managing an extensive data archive of school information and products, procuring designated products from schools, maintaining up to date files and electronic folders for schools, maintaining up to date documentation for technical assistance logs and service delivery data.
- Providing coaching and technical assistance to schools and districts: delivering coaching and facilitation support to school personnel through multiple methods including email, remote platforms, phone and on-site support as prescribed by the project technical assistance protocol; providing solution-focused assistance that advances schools' implementation of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework at all intervention tiers; supporting school teams through the development of/sharing of materials, products and resources; participating in and collaborating with project team members to problem-solve and develop technical assistance supports. Demonstrates a technical knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
- Delivering training on the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework: Using a high-quality training style that is engaging and informed; delivers training content as designed by the project Director; and demonstrates the use of an agile training style that adjusts/differentiates to the needs of participants across training sites. Demonstrates a technical knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
- Travel to training and school sites throughout New Jersey multiple times a week with occasional start times as early as 7:30.

- Master's Degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Social Work, or a related education field plus two (2) years of experience supporting Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports in public schools; or a Doctorate Degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Social Work, or a related education field plus one (1) year of experience.
- At least one year of experience working in or with public school settings.
- Experience delivering training and providing coaching support to implement interventions for conduct, behavior, and social and emotional wellness.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Implementation Expertise with Multi-Tier System of Support or Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, remote platforms (e.g., Zoom), along with capacity to learn and coordinate computer-based training and data programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced level degrees or designations (Psy.D), Ed.D, Ph.D, LCSW,NCSP, BCBA).
- Experience designing interventions at the tertiary intervention tier (e.g., conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and designing Function-Based Intervention Plans).
- Experience with urban schools and districts.
- Experience implementing universal design for learning, trauma informed practices, social and emotional learning, and restorative practices.
- Experience with Canvas, Google classroom and Qualtrics.
Equipment UtilizedPhysical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Travel to training sites throughout the state (some limited out of state travel may be required) including the transpiration of training materials (bins with handouts, projector etc.) to site locations. Training and Consultations need to lift weights up to approximately 25 pounds in order to move training equipment and set up training sites.
- Work Environment: New Brunswick based main office suite is shared with the six NJ PBSIS team members. Semi private work area that is generally pleasant in a clean, well-lighted quiet to moderately loud setting. Training and Consultation Specialists frequency work off site at school or training site locations.
