We Require
  • Three years of experience training and implementing training programs at an animal welfare, animal control organization, or closely related environment
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, education or a related field
  • Job-related experience may substitute for the minimum education requirements on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
  • Degree or training in Animal or Behavioral Sciences or a closely related field
  • Experience using Workday, Excel, SharePoint, and Storyline 360
  • Experience or education in adult learning theory and teaching techniques
Job Contributions
  • Develops learning curriculum and delivers in-person and virtual classroom programs on topics related to customer service, animal handling, shelter operations, shelter medicine, data entry, workplace safety, and general operational practices
  • Coordinates with the Special Projects Manager to research, write, design, and edit quality assurance reports for all ACC divisions; assists Division Managers in interpreting the results and identifying learning solutions
  • Maintains employee records within the County performance & learning system by recording completed coursework, conducting audits, and preparing reports as needed to ensure all ACC staff are compliant
  • Research trends, methodologies, and best practices in animal welfare, customer service, adult learning, and report writing to integrate into a professional application
  • Generates learning content in various formats, including written, audio, and/or video. Uploads material to different platforms and creates appropriate tracking mechanisms for task completion
  • Creates and runs standard reports to identify areas of opportunity for training with the Department and identify trends
Working Conditions
  • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license
  • Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree
  • The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • This position works in a busy, often noisy, office setting within an animal shelter with proximity to animals of all types
  • Exposure to animals, cleaning products used in animal shelters, and the smells associated with animal housing are common
  • While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough
